Queen Elizabeth I, the first.. by Noergli Queen Elizabeth I, the first.. by Noergli
This is my self-made copy of Queen Elizabeth's "Pelican" portrait gown after Nicholas Hilliard's painting from 1575. It took me five to six months to make in 2005.
The whole outfit weights 44 pounds with all the period undergarments, but due to the use of all natural fabrics (linen, silk and cotton) it's extremely comfortable to wear (I wore it in the snow and didn't freeze and I wore it in the sun on a bright summer day and didn't sweat more than any other person).
I'm exceptionally proud of that costume.
